Others may have difficulty with the abstraction and generality of the early chapters but, if they persist, should find it stimulating to look at the five realities described by Lohrey: ego desires, tribal, local realism, non-local realism and present mind. Although ego-centric narcissists and tribal nationalists have risen to power in major countries, our industrial and scientific world is still ruled by local realism with its Aristotelian logic. Perhaps the rapid spread of ecological awareness announces the dawn of a new age of non-local realism.
