  • 2.0 out of 5 stars from Michael Edwards -- Don't buy this version. : These stories are now in the public domain, and they seem to have been printed right off the computer screen. Or from a typewriter. (Does anyone use a typewriter anymore? But that's what it looks like.) A very cheaply made edition and very hard to read. Takes half the fun out of it. Buy another version, even if you have to pay a dollar or two more. You'll be glad you did. ( Reviewed in the United States on May 19, 2018 )
  • 1.0 out of 5 stars from IMHO -- Specific to the Stellar Editions 2016 Printing - Horrible Formatting : I have nothing but respect for Woodhouse, but Stellar Editions publication could only be more poorly formatted if someone scribbled it out on Post-It notes. The typewriter typeface, strange & uneven justification, and weak inking make this version unreadable. Read Woodhouse, but from another publisher. ( Reviewed in the United States on January 6, 2019 )
  • 1.0 out of 5 stars from E. Holm -- Formatting problems : A classic novel, but unfortunately, this version had significant formatting issues on my Kindle that made it impossible to read. For example, in some random sections, there was only one letter per line of text, like this: ( Reviewed in the United States on June 21, 2020 )
  • 1.0 out of 5 stars from DamselflyStudio -- Awful production : I love P G Wodehouse. I was really looking forward to listening to the tale of Jeeves and Bertie. However, the only part of this audiobook was the introduction. The narration was amateurish with an endless electronic piano in the background that was almost as loud as the narration. • 5.0 out of 5 stars from TSR -- The bowler hatted problem solver!!! : anyone who finds something to dislike in a PG Wodehouse novel or writing needs to go for a full mental exam. It’s a riot and a scream. The english is hard to categorize and is very likely something that’s possibly past into history. How banal comic writers nowadays sound and so devoid of bubbles. It’s the sort of language that seeks not to destroy or attack or put down a person or exhibit misogyny or racism or anything of that nature. It is what life would be in an idyll and in that idyll the problems that crop up are seemingly innocuous and insurmountable by the ruling upper classes and there’s the inimitable Jeeves to the rescue. Just so marvelous ( Reviewed in the United States on February 10, 2020 )
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Amazon Customer -- Wonderful British Humor : There is a chuckle on every page and sometimes, a laugh to tears episode. I love British humor and creative wordplay. Jeeves never seems to enter or leave a room the same way twice... Wodehouse broke the thesaurus coming up with creative verbs. And though the world of the 19th century English dilettante is strange to me, ( Reviewed in the United States on October 6, 2020 )
  • 1.0 out of 5 stars from richard thomas -- Poor Retranslation : I thought I was purchasing the original English version of the Wodehouse collection but upon reading the opening paragraph, realized that what had been peddled to me is a very poor re-translation of Wodehouse from another language. An example: "He placed the coolest old cup of tea softly at the table by using my mattress, and I took a refreshing sip. Just proper, just regular. Not too warm, not too candy, now not too susceptible, no longer too strong, now not too much milk, and not a drop spilled within the saucer. A maximum remarkable cove, Jeeves. So dashed ready in each appreciate". ( Reviewed in the United States on March 20, 2021 )
  • 1.0 out of 5 stars from topacho -- Miserable performance by Deaver Brown on the audible product : This bad review refers to the audible recording by Deaver Brown, Inc. Simply Magazine. The reading/performance is terrible. Moreover there is a distracting musical background throughout. I wish I could get my money back, but it seems so complicated. • 1.0 out of 5 stars from Steve -- So that's where all the toilet rolls went : Wodehouse's writing is archaic, definitely not diverse and, when the "cancel culture" club catch on to him, his books will probably be banned. Especially because they're easy-to-read, light-hearted and very funny indeed. However, take care about which edition you buy! I bought the green "SRP" version which is apparently printed in the USA; the type-setting is deplorable, with bizarre spacing and grey print. The cover and paper are clearly the thinnest and cheapest that SRP could find - in fact, they're probably the people who found a use for all of the toilet paper which was panic-bought at the outset of Covid-19. Get the book, but buy a good quality version. ( Reviewed in the United Kingdom on July 14, 2020 )
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from The Hon Bramble Throckmorton -- A splendid lockdown read for a chap : This book reminds me of the time I visited my aunt in Norfolk. I must say that I was dreading the proceedings, but having knocked back a couple of stiffners things became jollier than expected. Having said that; take yourself back to the 1920s, forget all the woes that betide us now and enjoy a light hearted read. This book is also suitable for chapesses as well. • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Old Codger -- Simply the best, old bean ! : PGW really should be on the national curriculum for ALL children, for however short a time. ( Reviewed in the United Kingdom on June 13, 2019 )
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Alastair -- Jeeves and Wooster : Future social historians will marvel at an age which found these tales believable, marvelling as they will at the class divisions, the relationship between Wooster and Jeeves and the rich cast of ancillary characters, hopefully before surrendering to the sheer innocent fun of the stories. What ho! ( Reviewed in the United Kingdom on January 29, 2020 )
  • 4.0 out of 5 stars from Mr Anthony Mason -- A good read. : This book is pure joy, and good escapism into a long ago fictional world. A few of the subplots were a little guessable, but on the whole it was great to read, and it made me smile every now and again too. ( Reviewed in the United Kingdom on April 1, 2021 )
